The 1974 World Cup, also called the 1974 Vilanja World Cup, was an international football tournament contested by men's national teams which took place between 9 April to 16 April, 1974 in Vilanja, East Chanchajilla. It was the 2nd World Cup, a worldwide football tournament held once every year. The tournament phase involved 32 teams, of which all came through qualifying competitions at the start of the event from an original 64 national teams. At the time, it was one of the most watched sporting events in the history of the world.
31 national teams advanced through qualification competitions to join the host nation in the final tournament, with a total of 64 matches played in 4 venues located in Vilanja and 1 venue in Nortagate. In the final match, Tinten defeated Elbresia 2–0.
