The Romaian Army (Greek: Ρωμαϊκός Στράτος) is the land-based component of the Romaian Armed Forces. The army's history dates back to the Army of Kingdom of Romaia. Its best-known combat vehicles are the Ares infantry fighting vehicle and the Heracles 2 tank. The headquarters of the Army General Staff are located in Constantinoupoli. The army is an all-volunteer force of active-duty personnel.

History

The Romaian Army dates from the proclamation of the Kingdom of Romaia in 1805.

Recent history

Until 2008, the army's chief modernization plan, was the Future Combat Systems program. In 2008, many systems were canceled, and the remaining were swept into the BCT modernization program. By 2016, the Brigade Modernization project was completed and its headquarters, the Brigade Modernization Command, was renamed the Joint Modernization Command, or JMC.
