Erik Tautenbach (February 8, 1937 – September 27, 2019) was a Besmenian politician who was Prime Minister of Besmenia from 1992 to 2001. Previously Tautenbach was from 1980 to 1983 Minister of Health in the First Beiter cabinet and from 1985 to 2000 the Leader of the Besmenian People's Party.
After the federal election 1992, Tautenbach formed between 1992 and 2000 the first blue-green coalition between the Besmenian People's Party and the Green Party of Besmenia. It was the first time in Besmenia that the GPB was involved in the federal government.
Early life and Education
Political career
Member of Federal Chamber (1972-2005)
Federal Minister of Health and Vice Prime Minister (1980-1983)
BVP leadership (1985-2002)
Prime Minister
First term (1992-1993)
When the BVP became the strongest party again in the 1992 Besmenian federal election, Tautenbach was commissioned by President Otto Schulz to form a government in mid-August 1992. The FBBP rejected a coalition with the BVP. This made a coalition with the SDU more likely. However, after lengthy coalition negotiations with the SDU, the BVP formed a minority government with the GPB. It is speculated to this day that Tautenbach had this goal from the start and that negotiations with the SDU were only pretend.
Second term (1993-1997)
Third term (1997-2001)
Last years
After the end of his time as Prime Minister Tautenbach remained party chairman of the BVP until October 2002. In December 2002 he announced that he intended to retire from politics after the end of the 21st Federal Chamber legislature. This happened after the 2005 Besmenian federal election.

Tautenbach died in the early morning of September 27, 2019 at the age of 82. A state funeral for Tautenbach was held on 27 September in Laitstadt.
