The Senate of Amathia (Amathian: Ⱄⰵⱀⰰⱅⱆⰾ Ⰰⰿⰰⱅⱍⰹⰵⰹ, tr. Senatul Amathiei) is the national legislature of Amathia. It follows a bicameral structure, being formed by the Chamber of the Nation and the Chamber of the People.
The members of the Chamber of the People, known as deputies, are elected throughout the entire country, while the members of the Chamber of the Nation, known as representatives, are elected regionally, with each Constituent Republic sending 21 representatives to this chamber. The remaining three seats are occupied by representatives elected in the central capital of Arciluco.
A law has to be approved by both chambers in order to be accepted, but the two chambers of the Senate have different attributions, as outlined in the Constitution of Amathia. Depending on their respective attributions, one of the chambers acts as a consultative chamber, while the second has the final say as the deciding chamber. If the first chamber adopts a law, the law proposal moves to the second chamber which makes the final decision on whether to accept or reject it. If however, the deciding chamber merely amends the proposal, it is returned to the consultative chamber, and in this case, the first chamber has the power to approve or deny the proposal permanently.
