The Battle of Lake Mungsan was a major engagement during the Seleucid Uprising in and around Lake Mungsan from 13 September to 25 November 1954. The battle was named after another name referring to the ancient Battle of the Five Kings where the armies of Gojuryeo, the Han dynasty and the Xianbei Confederacy were pitted against those of the Seleucid Empire.
After the retreats of Tam Hyung-joon's Army Group Sigma from Joyonghea, Sol Min-Gyu's Army Group Omicron from Upper Jurchenia, and Meng Lingxin's Army Group Xi from Lorica, Grand General Mangjeol Tae-hyun decided to consolidate the Seleucid forces around Lake Mungsan with the creation of a new satrapy. Mangjeol planned to defend Lorica's Gansu Province from further Allied advances from the north, east and south. It however failed to check the Allied offensive, and the Seleucids were forced to retreat westward, with their army groups inflicted with heavy casualties.
The battle ended in a decisive victory for the Allies as it led to the Liberation of Lorica and secured Joyonghea from any further Seleucid attacks.
