The Showdown at Karakul Lake, also commonly known as the Clash at Karakul Lake, the Seleucid Clash, the Clash of the Century, the Battle of the Descendants and the Two Hours of Fate, was a confrontation fought between the Deseleni members of the Tryphonic Council and the Neo-Seleucid Movement during the Neocon War. Occuring on 28 October 2040, the battle was fought at Karakul Lake in Western Lorica as a private offer by Ziyaad to reach a final settlement between the Seleucid factions over the Kataibatic Tablet. The intense confrontation by the descendants resulted in a victory for the Tryphonic Council, with Ziyaad and Michael IV Timotheos slain.
The Kataibatic Event galvanized the Council's resolve to stop Ziyaad from using the Tablet further, and caused several defections among those of the Neo-Seleucid Movement, which included Alice Janggok. After the Second Cataclysm, the Council were further galvanized to find Ziyaad and the others, but without much success. A week after the Second Cataclysm, an encrypted USB drive from Ziyaad was sent to Erebonia which contained a video conveying the offer for a duel in the remote Karakul Lake. It was received via a secure delivery to Fort Daidoji Kitagawa five days before 26 October. After viewing the contents, Prince Abdul Rashid ordered the assembly of combat-able descendants to accept the offer, which also included Kasimira zu Schärtal-Tangersten. On the night of 26 October, the two groups met and the duel opened with tremendous power. The showdown lasted for a two hours, and ended with Rashid and Kasimira slaying Ziyaad and destroying the Tablet.
Upon their return, peace negotiations were made, which officially ended the Neocon War. News of the Showdown eventually reached worldwide circulation, and instilled a cultural impact among Eordis' populace; one of which was the art collection Mural of the Epic Clash between the Descendants of Seleucus Nicator.
