Mercerius et Vulcanus University (Luzelese: Universidade Mercúrio e Vulcan), commonly referred to as UMeV, is a public research university located in Precea. Founded in 1280, it is one of the oldest running universities in the world, and is the second oldest university in Paretia. Today it is considered the most prestigious university in Paretia and one of the top universities in the Euclean Community. Many prominant figures including politicians, scientists, or professors were educated at UMeV.
Etymology
The name comes from the ancient Solarian dieties Mercury and Vulcan, originally named by Luzelese King Felipe II. It's name is meant to symbolize the importance of information and the trades, Mercurius being the former and Vulcanus the latter.
