The Imperial Army of Erebonia is the military organisation responsible for the defence of the Erebonian Empire. It consists of four branches, the Erebonian Army, the Royal Erebonian Navy, which includes the Coast Guard, the Royal Erebonian Air Force.
An organised military was first assembled in Norway in the 9th century and was early focused around naval warfare. The army was created in 1657, followed by two centuries of regular wars. From the 17th Century, Erebonia fought against its neighbors, the Aurocratic East Europan Imperial Alliance and the Calvard Rebpublic, with the latter often fighting over the control of the Crossbell State. In 1850, it fought against the United Kingdom until 1858, when Western Erebonia and a part of North Erebonia were seceded to the growing Lucis Empire. During the First Europan War, Erebonia fought alongside with the UK. The first Air Force in Erebonia appeared in 1917, under the Lucis Erebonian Army. In 1920, when Western Erebonia was returned to the Erebonian Empire, the control of the air force was transferred to the main Imperial Army of Erebonia and became the Royal Erebonian Air Force. Erebonia eventually became a founding member of the Europan Defence Treaty Organisation. Since the Second Europan War, the Erebonian Empire continues its build-up of large military bases and air stations and continuously monitors the potential aggression of its Eastern and Southern Neighbors.
With over 1,290,000 active combatants, the Erebonian Army is the 6th largest army in the world. The military spends about 285 billion Mira, the 3rd highest military spending in Europa.
