The second battalion, the Roughriders, was raised in the 19th century as a light mounted battalion, to serve as scouts and skirmishers. Nowadays the battalion contains two light motorised companies, the 6th and 7th, and two regular motorised companies, the 8th and 9th. It also contains the 10th engineering company. It is commanded by Lt. Col. Teresa Santana.
3rd Battalion (Reserves)
The third battalion, commanded by Lt. Col. Randolph 'Randy' Lee, is a reserves and training unit, used for administrative and replenishment purposes. The third battalion is never deployed abroad, and in the absence of the first two battalions is tasked with providing security for the town.
