The coat of arms of Imagua and the Assimas is the official coat of arms of Imagua and the Assimas, adopted in 1937 after the Colony of Imagua gained independence within the Estmerish Empire. After its independence from the United Provinces in 1948, the coat of arms has been maintained, and continues to be used to this day as a representative of Imaguan authority.

History

While this coat of arms was only adopted in 1937, coats of arms have been used to represent Imagua and the Assimas, in either whole or in part since its discovery by Eucleans in the late fifteenth century.

Under Caldian rule, the Royal coat of arms was used as a symbol of Imagua and the Assimas, with no alterations to reflect the rule. After Geatland took over the islands and attached them to their colonial establishments in present-day Eldmark, the symbols used in Eldmark were also applied to Imagua and the Assimas.

After Estmere took over the island of Imagua, Estmere began to apply their symbols to Imagua. However, it was only in 1822 when the colony of Imagua was granted their own coat of arms, which was used until the end of the Estmerish monarchy in 1937.

Meanwhile, the Eldmarkian symbols continued to be used on the Assimas Islands until it was annexed by Etruria. The Etrurians implemented their own symbols on the Assimas Island, with their own coat of arms being adopted in (TBD) for the islands.

After Imagua was granted equal partner status, the current coat of arms was adopted, and following the annexation of the Assimas from Etruria, the coat of arms was maintained.

Design

According to the Coat of Arms Act of 1937, the coat of arms shall comprise of:

"A shield with the field parted per cross, with a Sable dexter chief, an Azure dexter base, a Vert sinister base, and a Gules sinister chief. Atop the estucheon shall be the crest, which shall be a mural crown to reflect the republican nature of Estmere and her self-governing Colony of Imagua. Supporting the shield shall be two lions rampant regardant. Below the shield and supporters shall be a mount vert compartment, and below the compartment shall be the following phrase from Isaiah 40:15-17: Nothing Before Him."

Use

As per the Coat of Arms Act of 1937, the armiger is the government of Imagua and the Assimas. To this end, the coat of arms of Imagua and the Assimas is used on all government buildings, on government documents, on all governmental messages, and on national banknotes.

The Coat of Arms Act of 1937 makes it an indictable offence to use the coat of arms "with the intent to offend or to defraud the people," with the punishments ranging from a fine of 50,000 shillings, to up to ten years in prison, depending on the gravity of the offence. This has been interpreted by the Supreme Court of Imagua and the Assimas as banning the use of the national coat of arms on a private business, "either in whole or in part."
