Bonne Zijlstra (Born January 11, 1960) is an Alslandic politician who served as President of the Euclean Community from 2007 to 2012 and served as Premier of Alsland from 2000 to 2004. Zijlstra was elected as President of the Euclean Community in 2007 following the Treaty of Maredoux which established the role of the President of the Euclean Community. Zijlstra was the first person to serve as the President of the Euclean Community following the Treaty of Maredoux.

Zijlstra prior to joining politics worked with the Democratic Federation of Alslandic Labour trade union. Zijlstra entered politics in 1995 and became Minister-President of Delland in 1998, Zijlstra became only the second Minister-President of Delland not to come from the National Bloc and the first to come from the Workers' Party, Zijlstra formed a coalition government with Maitiid and the Humanist Sotirian Union. The coalition dissolved after the 2000 Dellish general election, Zijlstra then led a minority government with support from the Dellish Section of the Workers' International until 2004 when a formal coalition was agreed between the Workers' Party and the Humanist Sotirian Union. In 2006 Zijlstra co-founded the Progressive Alliance and left the Workers' Party, after this he formed a centre-right dominated government with the National Bloc and HSU led by himself.

In 2007 Zijlstra was elected as the first President of the Euclean Community following the Treaty of Maredoux. (Insert info on Zijlstra's Presidency). Zijlstra was elected to the Euclean Parliament in 2014. He currently sits with the Socialist Alternative for Euclea group within the Euclean Parliament.

Early Life

Bonne Zijlstra was born on January 11 1960 in Wottested to Tsjimke Zijlstra (1921-1998), a Senator from Middewald and Haakje Zijlstra (1930-2009). His father was a prominent member of the National Bloc and served as Secretary of Foreign Affairs between 1974 and 1977. Bonne attended a private boarding school in Hamptonshire for much of his childhood. His parents divorced in 1975 and Bonne's mother was given full custody of him in 1976. After failing to be admitted to Yndyk Military academy due to his anaemia Bonne enrolled at the University of Wottested in 1978 and graduated with a degree in History and Politics.

Zijlstra worked for the Democratic Federation of Alslandic Labour before entering politics. In 1998 he unsuccessfully ran to become Minister-President of Yndyk and received 48.5% of votes in the second round, narrowly losing to the incumbent Hatte Elsinga.
