With portions of the Research Colony still under occupation, and the country engaged in active military operations against the forces of the Dragon States, a few commentators working for the Royal Malgravean Times and other media outlets in the country speculated that the election date could be pushed back. In fact, it was rumoured that preperations were being drawn up to hold the election in 2030, however, these rumours were quashed when Nadzieja Brzezicki announced that the 2024 election would be going ahead as scheduled.
It was decided that proceeding with the pre-scheduled election timetable would send a strong message to the enemy, and appropriate steps were undertaken to allow internal refugees to vote in the election in accordance with their local residence, although, turnout was slightly reduced compared to the 2019 election due to the status of the occupation and the number of prisoners being held by Grogarite cultists.
After consultation with the Office for National Statistics and Analysis (ONSA), a decision was made by the National Electoral Comission and Integrity Office (NECIO) to expand the Chamber of Representatives from 2200 seats to 2500 seats to maintain the proportionality of the vote.
Election Issues
Naturally, the ongoing partial occupation of the Research Colony was a priority for many within Malgrave, especially, those who knew refugees that had been created by the outbreak of violence or those that had family members serving in the military. In addition, the current status of the military campaign against the Dragon States and efforts to assist Rohane Alista from internal unrest were high upon the agenda, the latter spurred by the number of Rohanian refugees that the country had accepted since the emergence of the golden tower threat.
The Progressive Unity Party outlined their commitment to maintaining the present support networks for Rohanian refugees that had settled within Malgrave, including the construction of new residential districts and new public service buildings to accommodate the large population. Stanisław Lem also defended measures undertaken by the Ministry of Education to integrate newly arrived refugees within the local educational system, with suitably qualified teachers being hired and used to teach newly formed classes of refugees.
Both the Malgravean Green Party and the Socialist Party supported the efforts of the Progressive Unity Party to support Rohanian refugees within Malgrave, although, they called for greater resources to be dedicated to help Rohanians become aware of local support services. Latterly, the Green Party also called for an extension of tramways into the new neighbourhoods.
The Technology Party were supportive of the actions of the Progressive Unity Party within government, although, they criticised the PUP for not putting adequate defences in place to defend critical infrastructure from attacks based on ancestral energy, and called for an academic conference to be called to establish if the wider country was prepared to face similar threats in the future.
It also called for the deployment of technological tools to assist the refugee population settle within Malgrave, with MalTec being called to develop new tools to direct refugees to new support services.
The Conservative Action Party supported the general thrust of the policies implemented by the Progressive Unity Party, however, they criticised the government for allowing newly arrived refugees to accept social solidarity funds immediately. Instead, the Conservative Action Party supported the establishment of a separate support payment which would give refugees suitable funding to live within Malgrave.
All parties broadly accepted a similar line on the response to the ongoing conflict, with the country rather unified on the importance of defending the Research Colony, crushing the Dragon States and helping the Catedonian people liberate themselves.
In the second half of the campaign, a few concerns arose about the future stability of the country. It was reasoned that the collapse of trade with Kouralia and the economic decline being experienced by Silverdale would have a negative impact on the wider Malgravean economy, with many fearful of a repeat of the pain of the Lost Decade.
Nadzieja Brzezicki and the Progressive Unity Party sought to distinguish themselves here, as they highlighted the work that the PUP had done to increase trade with the Dornalian Republic, Breheim, the C'tan and even states wholly outside Mystria that were not impacted as strongly or at all by the emerging crisis taking place across Mystria.
It was also reasoned that the investments within Mystria would help cement the position of firms like MalMart and MalTec for generations to come, as they had been able to accelerate takeover plans and increase their market share overseas.
The Conservative Action Party moderated their economic stance compared to previous elections, as they no longer called for the wholesale privatisation of companies like MalTra and MalEn. Instead, the Conservative Action Party cited the successful partial nationalisation of MalDef as inspiration for other state-owned firms like MalMart and MalTec. It was argued by the CAP that a partial privatisation of these firms would give them additional resources and help them in their efforts to expand overseas, although, the reaction to this message was mixed as present expansion plans were viewed very positively by the population.
The Socialist Party called for present state-run companies like MalEn and AlcoMal to be transitioned to worker ownership. It was argued that this would embrace true social solidarity, and reduce an incentive for state-owned companies to expand overseas for greater profit. The Green Party also supported calls for greater worker ownership in the economy, although, they also supported plans by MalEn to construct more renewable infrastructure overseas, although, the work to construct nuclear power plants within Breheim was a controversial policy.
The Technology Party called for a wholesale modernisation of the Integrated Works Computer Network (IWCN), a computer system initially created during the civil war to coordinate the work of state-owned enterprises and better facilitate three-year planning. It had previously been updated in 2014, however, the Technology Party reasoned that recent advancements within computing, and new circumstances meant that the system required wholesale updates to remain effective.
Campaigns
Progressive Campaign
The Progressive Unity Party were rather confident at the start of the campaign, as since the last general election they had been able to steadily improve the economy and tighten relationships with several key allies, with Nadzieja Brzezicki being a large presence at regional talks held within Crystal Spires in which she secured the creation of a new regional standards organisation.
Likewise, the country had performed admirably during the recent internal security crisis in Silverdale, as the footage of conscripts of the Territorial Defence Force being the last to leave New Snowdale were incredibly popular within the country and helped counter the negative stereotype about the capabilities of the conscript service.
Since the outbreak of the Silverdalean crisis, and the emergence of the golden towers in Rohane Alista, the country had been home to millions of refugees displaced from both countries. Malgraveans were typically proud of the effort the country had undertaken to house these refugees, as it was seen as a basic part of social solidarity and something the ancestors would approve of.
Malgraveans were also largely supportive of the way that the country had conducted itself in the campaign against the Dragon States, as such an evil regime was deemed by many to be a threat to the security of the region. Catedonians and their struggle were also largely supported by the population, as their repression was seen as an unjust evil that must be challenged.
Lastly, an overwhelming number of people knew someone impacted by the Grogarite aggression against the Research Colony. Malgraveans supported the campaign of the government to liberate the Research Colony, with many charitable drives being organised to raise funds for the war effort.
Overall, the Progressive Unity Party had a largely positive campaign which ensured they retained a majority even with the increased seats in the Chamber of Representatives, although, this was also credited towards the people rallying behind the flag for the war.
Conservative Campaign
The Conservative Action Party were able to reverse the negative perception that they had gained in more recent general elections. It was understood that the ascension of the moderate wing of the party had helped matters considerably, although, the popularity of Even Sørensen and his works prior to his involvement in politics was also credited with the emergence of the Conservative Action Party.
In taking a more moderate stance, the Conservative Action Party was able to find a broader base of support across the country which served them better compared to previous years.
Green Party
The Green Party sought to cement their position as the official opposition within the country, with senior party members taking credit for pushing the government on issues of intelligence reform and social solidarity. It was an approach that received a mixed reaction, although, popular within party circles and helped rally a large number of volunteers who helped campaign efforts considerably.
Technically, the Green Party lost support this election but the increase to the Chamber of Representatives meant that they gained seats. It is rumoured that the party instigated an internal review to find potential issues with their campaign, although, this rumour was denied by internal party sources.
Technology Party
Historically, the Technology Party had suffered incredibly from the fallout of the Lost Decade and internal stability within the party itself. A large number of voters percieved that the Technology Party was also still reliant on the skills of Helen Magnus, however, her decision to resign from wider politics in 2020 had allowed the Technology Party to grow an internal structure that proved to be popular with the voters.
In the campaign, the Technology Party underscored the importance of liberating the Research Colony, as many of the researchers that had joined the effort to cure MIDD had been located within the overseas territory. MalPha had also developed the revolutionary medical nanites within the Research Colony, and MalTec and many research institutes were excited for future breakthroughs in various fields.
With news pouring in routinely from the Research Colony, the message of the Technology Party resonated well with voters and they were able to pick up a sizeable increase of seats under their new leadership.
Socialist Party
The Socialist Party focused their campaign on efforts to implement a system of worker ownership for firms presently managed by the state. Such a message was quite popular in Rensk and other territories that belonged to the Socialist Republic of Malgrave, however, they were judged as ill-timed by other sectors of the population, with the war effort taking priority.
The Socialists also continued to call for the abolishment of the Paragon Monarchy and it's replacement with a Republic led by an elected Paragon Premier, a message that found increasing support due to a growing consensus that the country had been effectively run as a republic for several years. The Socialist Party campaign for the abolition of the monarchy also found some support, although, others also said that the timing for this wasn't correct due to the current situation within the Research Colony.
Overall the Socialist campaign was well-recieved by some but had a mixed reception in other parts of the country.
Alliance of Farmers, Fishers and Rurals
The Alliance of Farmers, Fishers and Rurals continued to focus their campaign on issues impacting the regions, and the agricultural and fishing sector.
Alliance called for further support to be given to agricultural cooperatives, with the party citing regional instability and the growing population as a reason to increase internal food security. It was also argued that increasing support for regional freight rail would allow rural goods to be transported more freely and prevent delays in case of a local emergency.
Additionally Alliance also criticised the Progressive Unity Party for abandoning rural areas in the Research Colony, as the defensive plan in place had called for an immediate evacuation of northern communities to defensive position below the mountain line near Gosbury.
It was a campaign that resonated well with rural communities, especially, those that had been forced to flee rural regions in the Research Colony and contributed to the party gaining seats.

The Absolute Royal Federation of Imeriata and her Realms | His Royal Highness Primus Rex Stjärnkhrone originally offered the sale of several royal herds and a neckless proudced by royal households own silversmith for the small sum of 1 Imerian gold Crown. Such sales are very common when the federation needs to get around issues with giftgiving, either due to local corruption laws or to avoid implying a feudal relationship between the Imerian High King and whomever is granted a gift. In this case however was the sale rejected and on the suggestion of Nadzieja Brzezicki did the Imerians instead give this gift to the Ancestral Study Group and requested them to pray to their Ancestors and paragons for well fortune to the newly elected prime minister. However in accordance with federal tradition did the Imerians also grant add a large offering of whales and fish, and several barrels of cider and mead. Such gifts is common for donations to religious orders by the Imerian monarchy and seems to confirm a longstanding federal misunderstanding where they often interact with the Ancestral Study Group as a religious institution rather than a secular one. |
