The 27 mm MANAR is a Riysian 27 mm autocannon series employed on a variety of land and aerial platforms. Its name is an abbreviation for MidfA' Nu'ah Automatique, Risi (Arabic: مدفع نوع اوتوماتيك، ريسي, English: Automatic-type Cannon, Riysian) as well as being a word for something that is illuminated (Arabic: منار).
Design
The MANAR uses a highly reliable linkless dual-feed system, with one feed usually being for high explosive rounds and the other for armour-piercing rounds. It has 6 different selectable rates of fire, from 100 rpm to 600 rpm. Performance of the MANAR is roughly equivalent to contemporary 30 mm autocannons, although the ammunition is generally lighter and smaller than most 30 mm ammunition.
The MANAR-T is a variant of the MANAR autocannon, removing the dual-feed system and converting it to a revolver cannon. It is intended for use on aircraft and anti-air systems, and has a high rate of fire at up to 1,800 rpm.
