Akino Terai (14 May 1996) is a New Akibander soldier currently serving in the Auxiliary Territorial Service Corps. She is assigned to the communications service within the ATS. She had sang the New Akibander Anthem on several military occasions. She is one of the few female officers to hold a secret admiration for Richard Philip Todd aside from Teletha Testarossa and Seon Myung-dae with the difference that Richard grew up with Teletha while Richard had feelings for Myung-dae.
She is also a klutzy officer and has a habit of sleepwalking to the point where she tries to sexualize herself with Richard to which she would soon be unaware of what she is doing. She is known as 'Baby Girl Akino' due to her being the youngest member of the ATS in the Communications Branch and her youthfully cuddly appearance, which, combined with her adorably cheerful personality and endearing clumsiness has gained her the trait of a moe.
Early Life
Akino was born to Koichi Terai, a Natural-born New Akibander officer in the New Akiba Defence Force and Alexandra Furakawa, a Lucian-Nihonnese Librarian. She was well-educated in her elementary years. She is playful and childish but did not enjoy the harsh life in her high school years so she dropped out and enrolled in another school. Akino also had a lot of admirers who soon left her. Because of this, She promised herself not to be in a relationship for the rest of her life.
When she graduated college, She enrolled in the Royal Military College of Belgen to pursue her dream of being a communications officer in the New Akiba Defence Force. She was soon assigned to a post in the Communications branch of the Auxiliary Territorial Service Corps.
Service with the ATS
As a Communications officer, she was hardworking and very pleased with her work. She worked along with Saori Suzushiro and they formed a bond that resembled a sisterly love. But sometimes Saori would tease her on not getting into a relationship which at that time that Akino was no longer interested and that she was contented with her single life. She did not fought in the Second Lucis Civil War as she left the ATS for a year to handle her job as a chef. She was sent to Lucis but was evacuated due to the war happening in the streets and served as a personal chef for Queen Henrietta.
She returned to New Akiba to resume her duties as a Communications officer in the ATS and was relieved to see that Saori made it out of the war. In 2012, During her trip to Zanarkand, She met Richard Philip Todd after being assigned that she was to be his subordinate for the whole trip. She liked Richard's character and the way the He took care of her. This led her to break her vow of remaining single and instead, develops feelings for Richard to the point that she would pretend being a damsel in distress. Richard, however was only doing his job of keeping her safe. She soon developed a habit of giving Richard her morning and evening kisses. They were mistaken for a couple many times that Richard denied it while Akino just blushed and giggled.
She was soon assigned as permanent assistant to Richard and this further intensified their bond but Akino was too shy to admit her feelings. During this time, She had developed a habit of going inside his room with only her lingerie and would try to give a morning kiss to him, much to Richard's chagrin. However, Richard still considers her to be a very good friend to the point that he sometimes would give Akino the kisses that she wanted.
Personal Life
She was an occupied female and had little exposure to friendships. It was only when she enrolled in the Royal Military Academy of Cornwall when she got into a group of friends. Here, She met Saori Suzushiro and together, they would graduate and enlist in the ATS. However, Akino had to handle her job as a chef so she delayed her enlistment. She never served during the Second Lucis Civil War but was awarded by King Noctis with a Badge of Honor for civil service during the war. She was then evacuated to Tristain where she resumed her duties as a chef and was to cook for Queen Henrietta.
When she had enlisted, She was assigned to communications office of the ATS. During the 2012 ZANAK Exercises, She met Richard Philip Todd and the two worked together handling in the Communications branch through out the exercise. She grew fond of him and soon, She wished to be with Richard for the rest of her life but her shyness kept her for telling him so. Like Teletha, She still holds feelings for Richard even after he had gotten married. She soon started to live with Richard and Myung-dae along with Saori after she permanently settled in Melbourne while having a 'comedic' argument with Myung-dae when it comes to morning kisses for Richard. Akino can be emotional, childish, peppy, easily embarrassed, whiny, reluctant and perverse, especially her well-known open secret
Akino is also a food lover and has considered ice cream, especially the Strawberry shell Vanilla ice cream that Richard makes to be her favorite. She frequently requests Richard to make it for her and spends her time eating in his quarters with him and sometimes with Myung-dae.
Akino has one daughter whom she named Koito after being accidentally injected with a vial containing Richard's sperm, causing her to get pregnant in 2015. Her daughter was born on July 18, 2016 in her hometown of Christchurch and named her Koito Rinna Terai.
Relationships
Richard Philip Todd
Akino and Richard first met when Akino, along with Saori visited Zanarkand for a Defence Force Visit. She was assigned to assist him in his taskings being assigned to him. It was Richard who taught her not to give up regardless of what is happening around her; whether if it was a contest or a duty. His politeness made her fall in love with Richard and strive to be with him throughout her life.
By the time of the TRIOC Exercises, Akino started to act very childish around him. She even started to wear only her lingerie and try to get beside Richard while he sleeps every morning to which Richard narrowly escapes her most of the time. She developed a habit of giving him morning kisses to the point where she would want to make out with him every morning, much to Richard's chagrin. But despite Akino's childishness around him, Richard would sometimes give her a kiss for something that she did good for him.
Akino has a rivalry with Myung-dae over Richard to which she still continued to battle for him until he had gotten married. The two would usually give out morning kisses to Richard. Currently, She resides with the couple due to her being assigned as Richard's personal assistant.
Seon Myung-dae
Myung-dae is Akino's good friend. But when it comes to Richard, The two are seemingly fighting over Richard. Richard was already in love with Myung-dae while Akino tries to get over him ever since she was assigned as his assistant, much to Myung-dae's chagrin. Myung-dae and Akino also fight over on who will give first a morning kiss to Richard which usually ends up as a tie since the two kiss Richard at the same time. Despite the two getting married, Akino retains her right to be with Richard and she currently resides with the two and they retain their same morning routine of kissing Richard.
Saori Suzushiro
Akino and Saori are best friends and had known each other since Akino's first day on her Communications duty. Akino and Saori share a common love for manga despite Akino being more into anime. Despite their closeness, Saori never fails to discipline Akino since Saori was her commanding officer. Saori had helped Akino on numerous occasions, most notably helping her to be with Richard. After Richard got married, The two became residents at Richard and Myung-dae's home in Melbourne and has served as godmothers to Briston and Yuno. Koito Terai, Akino's daughter who was born after she underwent injection with Richard's sperm (accidentally) became Saori's goddaughter and has ever since, served as her guardian.
Saori also harbored feelings for Richard but refused to show it further in order to allow Akino to win over him.

- Akino, with Jamie Hazaford and Namie Portman is the shortest of the ATS Personnel, Akino's height is 5'0 3/4 while Jamie is 4'9 3/4 and Namie is 5'0 1/2.
