The August 2016 Cavari bombing was an attack perpetrated in Cavari, capital of the Trellinese province of Namija, by members of the North Peninsular Republic at 11:13 p.m. on 27 August 2016. One hundred and fifty three people were killed as a result of the attack, with three hundred and twelve more injured.[1] It is the worst terrorist attack in Trellinese history. The attack is believed to be retaliation for the Siege of Pathatl, which concluded earlier the same day in victory for combined Andamonian-Trellinese forces after a three month siege. The target of the bombing was a construction site near Cavari City Hall, where work was ongoing on a forty-floor development to be called Unity Tower. The resulting explosion collapsed a construction crane, which fell across two adjacent streets and crushed a swathe of property. In addition, a hole was opened into the city's underlying subway network, causing severe damage to a train which was then in the tunnel.[2]

Police quickly ordered all traffic off the roads in the city centre as the scale of the attack became apparent. Duke Kaledro ordered the province's military to secure the city centre within twenty minutes of the bombing, and Cavari Airport suspended all flights for twelve hours shortly after. A manhunt was soon initiated for the perpetrators, as all routes in and out of the city were shut down. Within twenty-four hours, eight suspects had been arrested in connection with the attack, although the manhunt continued.
