The Battle of the Jade Reef was a naval engagement during the Siduri War, fought between the Inner Sphere's Sundering Fleet and the Northern Fleet of the Common Axis, composed of ships of Quenmin and the Cacertian Royal Navy. It was the first major fleet engagement in eastern Siduri between the Inner Sphere and the Common Axis, and the second major battle between the two sides following the Battle of the Mansuri Sea one month earlier. The battle took place between the naturally formed Jade Reef located in the Qilin Sea between Serikos, Quenmin, Akashi and Acrea.

Following the outbreak of hostilities between the Common Axis and the Inner Sphere in October 1934 both sides made preparation for extensive naval operations in the waters around Siduri. For the Common Axis control of the Bara Sea was essential to maintain lines of supply and communication between the Cacertian Empire and the Quenminese Front, which was rapidly becoming the site of major combat between the armies of both sides. While the close proximity of the Cacertian Archipelago effectively closed the area off to Inner Sphere commerce trading, the geography of the Sundering Sea allowed a direct route for Inner Sphere ships into the Qilin Sea and the waters of Eastern Siduri. Almost immediately after hostilities began, the Shirvani Admiralty had identified the need to insert commerce raiders into the Bara Sea to disrupt Common Axis shipping.
