Brightburg Municipal Airport is the largest domestic airport in Radictistan by passenger traffic and the third largest overall. It serves the Municipality of Brightburg, the third most populous urban area in the Grand Duchy of Radictistan. This airport is unusual in that is owned and operated by a private company, Brightburg Airport PLC, whereas most airports in Radictistan are owned by local governments.

Runways and operational infrastructure

Brightburg Municipal Airport has two parallel runways. Both are outfitted with mircrowave landing systems. The airport is also provisioned with a VOR/DME installation and the usual array of air traffic control radars.

Terminals

The airport has three terminals laid out in a linear fashion totaling 118 gates.

Terminal A

Terminal A has 41 gates. It is used primarily by Royal Radictistan Airways and also by Norcust Aviation. Royal Radictistan Airways has a lounge in the terminal.

Terminal B

Terminal B has 38 gates. It is used by the low-cost carrier Blue Kestrel Airways.

Terminal C

Terminal C has 39 gates. It is used by Norcust Aviation, which has a lounge in the terminal, and also for charter flights by ValAir and other charter airlines. The terminal has facilities for international passenger traffic although no international scheduled services are hosted at Brightburg.

Cargo

Brightburg Municipal Airport is served by domestic cargo flights by Radictistan Air Parcel Service and the cargo division of Royal Radictistan Airways.

General Aviation

Because of its location in one of the most prosperous regions of Radictistan, Brightburg Municipal Airport is extensively used by the general aviation community. Both private and corporate aircraft are frequent users of the airport's runways. These aircraft are housed at a general aviation annex adjacent to Terminal C. Konavia, a company manufacturing general aviation aircraft, has its main factory located nearby and uses the airport for flight testing.

Each may the airport hosts the Vintage Jet Meet sponsored by the Radictistan Vintage Aircraft Association.

Brightburg Municipal Airport sits near the A11 motorway. In addition to road connections, the airport is served by the city tram-train system, BMTA Rail, and municipal bus routes.

Accidents and incidents

On May 11, 2017 a privately owned MiG-23UB piloted by Jen Gutmann failed to gain altitude after taking off from runway 03L/21R. Gutmann ejected and sustained only minor injuries. The crash occurred on the second day of the annual Vintage Jet Meet held by the Radictistan Vintage Aircraft Association.
