The Ceram River is a major river in Negara, one of the longest rivers in Coius. It flows from the Green Mountains and the Turoccan Sea through the Ceram Plateau and central Negara before emptying into the Hesian Sea, and its river basin is home to roughly a quarter of the population of Negara. The Ceram and its tributaries are home to a number of endemic species, including the Negaran Freshwater Crocodile and the Finless Porpoise, and the prosperous Ceram Delta generates up to 15% of Negara's GDP. In recent decades, the Ceram has suffered from pollution, overfishing, and siltation, but this has been improved as a result of Negara's New Environmental Policy and the establishment of a number of protected sites along the river. The Ceram is notable for its extreme navigable length and the vital transport it provides between the Hesian Sea and Negara's inland provinces.
