The Dominion of Seulbyeni (Anikatian: 슬볘니 의 지배; Seulbyeni Jibae) colloquially known as Seulbyeni, was a colony under Arthuristan administration from 1688 to 1991 comprising the islands of Seulbyeni.

History

Human habitation of the Seulbyeni is estimated to have begun between 35,000 and 38,000 years ago, possibly with the migration of people by short sea-crossings from neighbouring islands. These first inhabitants may have been ancestors of modern Indigenous Zihsilei, who are also found on the neighbouring continent of Ashizwe. From period a diverse number of ethnic groups emerged either from migration of adaption to the landscape and climate. The early rise of these new civilizations spread themselves over what is now Seulbyeni beginning in around 2200 BCE, and flourished there until colonization. From the 3rd to 12th century the Anikatian native civilizations reached their zenith. The A'kyjianun kingdom rose in the north-east from the 6th and 7th century.

Ulthrannic colonization of nearby Anikatia brought new groups of people to the region. Later efforts of the Ulthrannic Empire saw privateering parties of conquistadoras such as Maria Lucila Castaño who later became known as the The Iron Duchess of Anikatia. Who were instrumental in reforming Supported by the power Ulthrannic Empire, the newly colonial A'kytiy Empire expand against the northern A'kyjianun kingdom. In a violent and bloody war the A'kytiy with superior technology and weapons managed crush the A'kyjianun kingdom from the mainland. Surviving only on the furthest far eastern Seulbyeni islands.

It was by the late 1600s, Commonwealth of Arthurista would discover Seulbyeni, which until this point survived efforts colonisation efforts due to its geographic distance from Anikatia. In 1688 Thomas Norton a privateer and adventurer of the Commonwealth of Arthurista took a group of mercenaries while exploring discovered the Seulbyeni islands. Norton had discovered the last surviving sections of the A'kyjianun kingdom, he offered the A'Kyjianu king who ruled the islands the choice of selling them for a vastly undervalued price for his use as a ‘trading post’, or further territorial loss imposed by force. The former option was chosen, and thus began the period of Arthuristan rule in the islands of Seulbyeni comprising the remaining elements of the A'Kyjianun Kingdom.

Government and politics

Government

After Seulbyeni was granted dominion status in 1946, the islands were governed as a parliamentary democracy within the context of a constitutional monarchy. The unicameral Seulbyeni Islands Assembly was elected by universal suffrage every five years, with the leader of the largest party called upon to serve as the dominion's First Minister and form a government. The Lord Protector of Arthurista remains the ceremonial suzerain, represented locally by his Governor General. The dominion government also nominated a Secretary for the Seulbyeni Islands, with a mandate to represent the dominion on the Arthuristan cabinet in the capacity as a non-voting minister.

The dominion government enjoyed complete autonomy on the internal governance of the islands, while issues of foreign affairs and defence were classified as 'reserved matters' dealt with by Loweport. Unlike its sister dominion of Lion's Rock, the Seulbyeni Islands Assembly opted against the development of an indigenous military force, despite encouragement from Arthurista, and instead decided to continue its traditional reliance on the Commonwealth Defence Forces for protection.
