Esquarivision Song Contest 2015

The 46th annual Esquarivision Song Contest will take place in Krasimir, Katranjiev following Katranjiev's win in the 2014 contest with "Pochivai sega, moyat voin" (Rest now, my warrior) sung by Nikolina Dobrev. It will be the first time since 2009 that Katranjiev hosted the contest.

Format

Location

Krasimir was the only candidate to actually compete in the bidding, and thus won by default. The Krasimir Esquarivision Committee nominated the Kralsakata Arena with 18,000 seats for the guests, which was also bid in 2009 but lost to Desislav that year, with close access to hotels and public transit, as well as to Krasimir's international airport.

Hosts

KTV and the royal family jointly announced on Jan. 3, 2015 that Princess Mariana (future Elis of Katranjiev) will serve as host, alongside Baicheng-born actor Matt Cho. At the time, it was unexpected that she would become the head of state due to her father's (Apostol XV's diagnosis of terminal thyroid cancer in July), but when she was due to become Queen, combined with her pregnancy, some people advocated replacing her with a different host, due to a conflict of interest as being host and head of state, with allegations that it would violate the rules that make Esquarivision supposed to be "non-political."

KTV defended their decision to select Elis, stating that "she was the right fit. She has the charms, the charisma, and the popularity from across the nation. She wanted to do it, the Katranjians wanted her to do it, and so we allowed her to become host."
