History
Foundation
The "Ferrett Oriental Trading Company" was founded in 1888 by Emmanuel Ferrett in Pristlav as an import-export society specializing on commerce with Perateia, Alanahr, Fahran and other Eastern Scipian countries. When Emmanuel died in 1930 his second son Marton Ferrett succeeded him as his older brother had died in 1918 during the Drevstranese civil war. A fate Marton escaped as he was serving as a trade agent in Perateia for his father's company at the time.
Marton Ferrett quickly grew interested in the oil trade and contacted the Drevstranese government for fundings. Vilvo Orbraggar, then in charge of the state, was supportive of the idea as a way to reaffirm Drevstran' independency and secure its interests. Marton Ferrett then renamed his company to "Ferret Miscellaneous Trading" and moved its headquarter to Angrast to get closer to the Orbraggists circles and secure needed finances and liquidities from the state.
Vernesto Skolad succeeded to Orbraggar in 1941. Quickly, the relationship between the new head of government and Marton Ferrett soured, Skolad wishing for the state to have greater control over Ferrett's "vital business". Marton would then spend the rest of the Skolad Regime in semi-exile back to Pristlav, where he grew closer and ultimately joined the Pristlav Clique led by Marveil Urshlo. The influence of the Clique would prove vital for Ferrett Miscellaneous Trading' survival through both Skolad and Dursila' rules, although it was not without consequences as both political and budgetary pressures forced Marton to drop more and more of his company's businesses, restructuring solely around oil and gas. By 1959, when Marveil Urshlo, the unofficial political protector of Ferrett, won the Mayorship, Marton had once again rebranded the enterprise to its modern name of "Ferret's Oil and Gas Public Company". Because of health issue, Marton left the direction of the company to his own son, Sandoras Ferrett.
1970 Oil Crisis
The Sydalon Crisis of 1972 led to the 1973 Oil Crisis provoked when Ghant, supporter of Prince John' claim to the throne of Sydalon, ceased shipping to countries who refused to do so as well. The occasion allowed Sandoras, using his father's contacts in Perateia, to capitalize on his company' foothold in Latin markets following the trade agreements signed by the Urshlo administration with the Latium a decade ago. By the end of the year, and through dealing with both the Latin and Drevstranese governments, Ferret's Oil and Gas was now an actor in both countries. Careful management of these sudden gains allowed Sandoras to buy the Latin company Motrileum Oil in 1979, securing the transnational nature of his company, now known as the Ferrett Group.
International Expansion
Following the Oil Criss, Ferrett Group grew alongside the Trans-Periclean Free Trade Area and it now has a presence in most countries of the FTA.
