Hyser is a major city in the nation of Hysera that was the heart of the pre-Ethlorek Hyseran Empire. The capital of both the nation and the province of Hysera until 1964, it remains the centre of the Hyseran monarchy and still hosts much of the national administration. With a population of nearly four million, it is the second most-populous city in the nation and the seventh in either Hysera or Trellin.

The economy of Hyser is defined by its role as a major port city and economic hub, as well as its prominence as a tourist centre. It receives over one million tourists every year, mostly from across the Trellinese Empire. It is an important industrial and commercial centre and, together with Ledigar to the north, forms the main part of the nation's most heavily populated axis, which extends north from Maira to Aloyu.

Toponymy

Hyser's modern name draws from the Ahéri words Hysei and Er, meaning "wall[ed] settlement"; the city was one of the first in the area to develop a complete ring of stone walls, which has led some scholars to associate it with the place named in Ledigaran sources as Iz-Kitaala, "Stone Town".
