Army

The start of a Kapukan army started as early as the collapse of the Kingdom of Limoni. After the collapse and sebsequent Warring Period, each island created their militias. These militias served as the first army forces of Kapuku. These forces saw unifcation and improvement after the foundation of Meakhani's Kingdom and the unication of the Kapukan islands. Zhenian contact and soon followed administration of Kapuku saw previously unseen improvement of both the equipment and organization of the ground forces.

In early 1900s saw further expansion of the army. The first types of machine weapons were introduced to the solders of Kapuku. This point in history is seen by many as the start of the modern Kapukan army. During the First Great War, some groups of Kapukan soldiers deployed on the side of Zhenia and her allies. With the annexation of Kapuku in 1939, the army was reclassified as a unit for the Zhenian army and was ordered to defend the Kapukan islands. Despite these orders, many soldiers defected to the side of teh revolutionaries in 1941 with the start of the Hopai Uprising. A total of 20,000 enlisted men joined the side of the revolutionaries and fought for Kapuku's independence. After the independence of Kapuku, the army supported a coup against the existing monarchy inside of Kapuku and stormed Lono Palace in favor of a Kalist State. In 1947 the current branch of the armed forces seen today was created. During the 1950s and 60s, the army was supplied with modern equipment from teh nation of Florencia and slowly, over the years, became more and more powerful.

The army is organized into 20 divisions, further divided into brigades. Both the Lono Guards and Coastal Defense Command serve under the army.

Navy

The first traces of a Kapukan naval forces orginated inside of the Kingdom of Limoni. The kingdom, along with its successors all had very large fleets of canoes. These boats were used to explore the Hanmaric and lead to settlements such as ones seen on the coasts of the nation of Oya'in. With Zhenian contact, Kapuku became a crown dependency of their empire. This lead to great expansion of both the Naval and Merchant fleets of Kapuku. By 1870, the merchant fleet of Kapuku had over 80 ships in service. Around this time, the first official Kapukan navy was created to act as an auxillary to the great Zhenian fleet.

In the late 1920's, Kapuku had a median navy. The navy present during that time still acted as an auxillary fleet to the Zhenian Navy. With the outbreak of the Second World War, the Kapukan Navy was moved to be a part of the Zhenian Navy. The Kapukan fleet fought feircly in the Hanmaric, with many enemy ships being sunk by the Kapukan navy. With the start of the Hopai Uprising in 1941, parts of the Kapukan Navy went against Zhenia and defended the islands. The Hopai Uprising saw over 30 Zhenian ships sunk by the Kapukan Navy. From 1944-1946 the Kapukan Navy acted as an unorganized part of the military. In 1947 with the coup, the modern from of the Kapukan Navy was created. In the 1960s and 1970s, the navy saw great expansion. The number of ships went from under 50 to over 90 in less than 20 years. The 2000s saw the most recent expansion of the navy with 3 new submarines and over 10 new modern ships created.

The navy is organized into three fleets; the UL Fleet, HH Fleet, and the OW Fleet. Each fleet has a different niche inside of the navy. The UL Fleet's job is to protect the islands of Ulukau and Limoni, the HH Fleet's job is to protect the islands of Huamea and Hulawa, and the OW Fleet's job is to protect the territorial waters of Kapuku as well as conduct offensive attacks during times of war.
