The Kingdom of Galania refers to the independent Galanian state that emerged in central Syara following the collapse of the Rioni Union. Declared by King Dragan I in 1715, Galana emerged among the Syaran Successor States having experienced significant growth during the preceeding centuries and boasted the largest population and territory. Maintaining its status as a major agricultural center, Galania proved a major power in north-west Siduri during the 18th and 19th Centuries.
Due to its size, Galania often served as an early counter-balance to Ruvelka, which had unified prior to Syara and by the mid-18th century had formed the Ruvelkan Imperium. Syaran collective outrage over Ruvelkan occupation of Zemplen served as a major problem within relations between the Imperium and the Syaran states, leading to numerous border conflicts between Ruvelka and Galania. Over time the Kingdom's limited coastline and ports caused Galania to fall behind its rivals Scitaria and the Kingdom of Makedon as the two other states industrialized and modernized. By the early-19th Century the Makedonians had begun to outstrip Galania in political and military matters, leading to a decline in influence and prestige among Syara. Driven in part by a determination to re-assert Galanian influence, the Kingdom embarked on the Galanian-Ruvelkan War in 1843 against the Imperium. Despite early success the attempted reconquest of Zemplen failed and the Kingdom's defeat eliminated any remaining resistance to Makedonian dominance over Syara. Following the Ruvelkan-Makedonian War, Galania agreed to form a unified Syaran nation with the other four successor states, becoming part of the Republic of Syara in 1875.
