The Lamine family is a well known clan of tribesmen of the Tenerian nomads in Charnea, notorious for their long standing involvement in the world of Charnean organized crime and the military. The family are the progeny of the well known outlaw Lamine ag Sahra who gained notoriety in the late 19th and early 20th century, and would later be immortalized in Charnean popular culture. The Lamine family has long been involved in the activities of the underground in Charnea. Many notable members in the past have been killed or imprisoned for crimes ranging from drug trafficking to contract killing, as the majority of the clan is closely associated with the Alxalat. The Lamine name is considered nobility within the world of Charnean organized crime, while such an association has darkened the public view of the clan. However, the family's reputation has been positively influenced by the career of Martuf Lamine, a military man of high rank in the ICA, former member of the Divine Army of the Ninety-Nine Nations, and famous war hero of the Ninvite War.

Notable Members

Martuf Lamine

Martuf Lamine is the most famous of the Lamine family thanks to his status as a war hero for his participation in the Ninvite War. He is among the oldest surviving Laminids, yet is estranged from much of the family due to his open hostility towards the criminal elements of the clan. He was born of Akor Lamine to his mother Kana ult Amellal on August 17th, 1961 in a nomadic camp in the western Tenere, where he became involved in the family business of smuggling through the western routes before escaping to join the DA3N, a Sakbeist foreign legion of sorts serving under the Mutulese Army. From 1977 to 1986 he lived in the Mutul where be converted to the White Path, learned Mutli and served with distinction in the Divine Army's formations until his desertion with a group of his fellow Charneans in Mutulese service to return to the home country to fight in the Ninvite War. Martuf earned his fame as a war hero for his involvement in the desert raids of the Hatherian campaign and his leadership in Operation Cobalt Sky, after which Martuf would become associated with many of his fellow Ninvite War veterans and influenced army clique known as the Cobalt Square. Martuf Lamine was the Regent of the Empire of Charnea and de facto military dictator of the country after seizing power in a counter-coup in 2013, maintaining control of the country until his death the Fahrani Civil War. He was killed in action when his aircraft was shot down by insurgents over western Fahran in December 2023. His death created a power vacuum and set off a series of events which culminated in the overthrow of the Charnean government in the Muttay Ajamhuryin.

Kubra Lamine

Kubra is the half sister of Martuf Lamine, born in 1970 to Akor Lamine and Sabilla Azari. Unlike her brother, she was not inducted into the family business due to the death of her father shortly after birth coupled with the general neglect of her mother Sabilla who would end up abandoning her in her youth. Kubra became involved in the criminal world through other means in 1987, when she was convicted of murder by the Charnean Ajoda and sent to Adhasna Prison to serve her sentence. Mitigating circumstances emerged demonstrating that the victim had severely abused and assaulted Kubra Lamine prior to his murder, with her advocate arguing successfully that she had feared for her life. This would earn Kubra an early release, but not before serving 20 years in Adhasna during which time Kubra became closely affiliated with the Agnannet Syndicate inside the prison. Upon her release in 2007 Kubra Lamine is alleged to have become to the most prolific contract killer in the history of Charnean organized crime through her involvement in the Consolidation, a bloody civil war in the ranks of the Charnean mafia.
