King Robert V (b; 1 August 1669 d; 6 November 1726 (aged 57)) was King of the Angles and the Charmelcs and Protector of the Realm as well as first king of the short Graff Dynasty. Born into the noble House Graff, he ruled Newfort as Lord Robert Graff following the passing of his father when he was 15. He ascended to the throne after leading the Northsmen to victory in overthrowing the House of Vieri and taking the throne during the Anglish Civil War.

Early Life

Robert was born the eldest son of Lord-Commander Robert Graff and wife Dorothea Jordan, lord and lady of Newfort, in 1669. During his early years he was educated by private tutors, becoming fluent in Charmelcs as well as Cornkien and learning skills such as writing and arrow shooting. His father brought him and his siblings up with an underlying anti-Vieri sentiment, with many in the north seeing their claim to the throne illegitimate due to close links with the Vetullian royals.

When he was 15 his father passed, making him Lord-Commander of Newfort and giving him claim to northern territory. He quickly became popular amongst the populations due to his youthful view on diplomatic situation. He was trained by the army during his early years as Lord-Commander, becoming proficient in swordsmanship and cavalry riding.

He appeared to make speeches to the public on Northsmen nationalism and why they were the "final true Anglicans", implying others were corrupted by the Vetullian bloodline. This lead to threats being made on his life by the council of King Tommen, who threatened to silence him in a letter using force. Graff used this letter to start a movement in the north, uniting northern Anglicans with Charmelcs and King Lennox to create an alliance and state independence from the "false Anglish kingdom".

Following the creation of the Alliance of the North many northsmen began to sign up to local militias to fight for the north. Robert began to gather troops in the north to make a march down south, lead by himself and his generals as well as the army of the Charmelcs lead by King Lennox.
