New Guernsey, officially the Republic of the County of Guernsey, is one of the twenty-five republics of Omerica. One of the three insular republics, New Guernsey is the third-smallest republic by area and the smallest by population.
Etymology
The modern-day republic was originally founded as the County of Castlerock, named after the fortress on the Channel Island of Guernsey, which remained under royalist control through the English Civil War. After the Omerican War of Independence, the area—then part of the Seafoam Islands—renamed itself the County of Guernsey by popular referendum; Guernsey itself was largely under Parliamentarian control during the Civil War, thus the renaming symbolised freedom from the Crown.
