Westavon (French: Avon-Occidental [officially] or Ouestavon [informally]), officially the Republic of Westavon, is one of the twenty-five republics of Omerica. The republic borders the Free State, Marche Rouge, Bridgecastle and the Vermilion Bay and splits Chester County from the rest of Strathavon.
Residents of the republic are known as Westavonians in English and Ouestavonnais in French.

Governance
Unlike other Omerican republics, Westavon has no single entrenched constitutional document. The constitution is thus spread out over a number of written statutes, supplemented by unwritten constitutional conventions. The Legislative Assembly is usually considered to be a sovereign legislature and, as the supreme lawmaker, is traditionally able to make any law on any subject it deems fit to legislate on. Before the ratification of the Basic Laws of Omerica, such laws could not be questioned in the courts; however, as a republic of Omerica, Westavon is bound by the Basic Law and Omerican Charter of Rights, leading to the possibility of laws being invalidated for incompatibility with the federal constitution.
