Sakura Saito (born 17th August, 1964) is a Malgravean singer-songwriter. Sakura first gained popularity in the 1980s during an explosion in productions following the end of the civil war, an event known as the Cultural Revolution and is regarded as one of the most successful Malgravean artists, with a career spanning several decades and inspiring several notable performers including Aleksandra Dubanowski.
In 2021 the Royal Malgravean Navy announced that a Paragon-class aircraft carrier would be named after the idol. Presently the HMNV Sakura Saito sails from Aurora, however, it is currently engaged in naval operations against the Dragon States.
Early life
Sakura was born in the coastal city of Aurora during an extremely turbulent period during the civil war. At that time Sakura's mother worked as a medical care worker in the local regional hospital while her father worked for the Royal Navy intercepting smugglers and as a result, she came into contact with foreign music at quite an early age.
Later in life, Sakura excelled at musical education and literature studies, with Sakura winning several competitions on a local and national level for her renditions of popular songs on the Ancestors and her original compositions and short-stories on the Great Exodus.
Following her success with several ASG-run competitions, Sakura joined Ascension Musical Productions, a record company owned by the Ministry of Culture.
Musical career
In the early 1980's Sakura began working for Ascension Musical Productions and the Ministry of Culture to produce several original songs for the opening sequence of the popular radio dramas such Life on the Front, a radio drama about people living through the Battle of Pakosc.
After working for the Ministry of Culture to develop original soundtracks for MBC productions, Sakura began to work on her first studio album and in 1984 she released Arrival of Love which found partial success breaching the top 20 and earning her the confidence of her superiors in the Ministry of Culture.
Following on from the limited success of Arrival of Love, Sakura began touring certain locations in Malgrave including the newly liberated territories of the Socialist Republic of Malgrave which had been absorbed into the United Kingdom following the competition of the Epping-Rensk Agreement.
At the end of 1984 Sakura Saito recorded a popular version of the propaganda song Ascension on the Horizon which typified the positive emotions that many Malgraveans were feeling and the general optimism for the future.
In 1985 Sakura released Hope from Sadness an album that centred on optimistic and uplifting songs, with inspiration from records that Sakura had listened to with their origins in the current day Dornalian Republic. Hope from Sadness resonated with the Malgravean public and spent several weeks at number one and quite a few months in the top 20.
In the following years, Sakura released a succession of albums including Timely and Reflection which spent a similarly long-time at the top of the charts and released a few compilation albums of her earlier songs including those from her first album Arrival of Love.
Sakura proceeded to continue to tour throughout Malgrave in the early 90's, with the performer continuing as a regular appearance on the musical variety show Weekly Music Countdown which has become a source for many of her live performances that have gained traction on social media, however, in the mid-90s Sakura took a small break from performing her music to concentrate on writing for other performers.
In 2002 Sakura indicated that she was returning to the music scene herself, and following a tour of several Territorial Defence Force facilities she released Aurora Spirit an album focused around her early childhood years in her hometown of Aurora, with the return once again proving popular.
Personal Life
Sakura Saito entered into a relationship with fellow musician, Julian Chmiel, the couple have one daughter fellow musician Yukika Saito.
