Salmon Arm is a city of the Zamastanian province of Pahl, with a population of 221,000. It is situated on the Taro River, which serves as the border with Zian province. Established in the 1700s as an upriver logging settlement, the city was named for the branch of the Taro which spawned large salmon and trout populations, of which the settlers and the Catica First Nations people relied on heavily. In the 21st century, Salmon Arm became noted for its growing liberal and progressive political values, earning it a reputation as a bastion of counterculture.
