Samuel Taita (born 18 May 1960) is a Thalassic politician currently serving as the 32nd President of the Thalassic Federation, representing the Trade Union Party.
Taita was born in Tu'anuku island, a small island in the Ngatuva region home to just over 3,000 people. At the age of four Taita and his family relocated to Western Strafton, where he studied at the University of Facifern before going on to study at TBA in Arcadia under a scholarship, graduating with honours in economics, law and political science. In 1984 he returned to Strafton and joined the Federation Council of Trade Syndicates, becoming President of the FCTS in 1998. During this time he achieved national recognition for his contributions in solving major wage disputes and industrial relations challenges following the Millenium Crash.
Taita officially resigned as President of the FCTS in 2004, announcing his intention to join the Thalassic Trade Union Party, he stood for a safe Union seat in New Saltcoats, and six years later was elected to the position of Union Party Chairman to replace the outgoing President Jackson Bollard after a defeat in the 2010 Thalassic Federal Election. Despite losing the 2013 election, Taita eventually won the Presidency in 2016, and again winning in a landslide in 2019.
