The Scitarian Security Forces is the Realm Defense Force of Scitaria.

History

The Scitarian Security Forces was established in 1988 as per the Commonality Constitution's description of responsibility for national defense of Syara falling on both the national government in Zovahr and the individual Realms that form the Commonality. The Scitarian Security Forces have long been considered a paramilitary force with a decentralized command structure focused on regional groupings of forces, reflecting of historical Scitarian methods of warfare.

Role

As a Realm Defense Force, the Scitarian Security Forces swears loyalty to Scitaria itself and answers to the Viceroy rather than the Commonality and the Executive. Per the Commonality Constitution the Security Forces cannot be mobilized or utilized by the Syaran national government without explicit authorization by the Viceroy and the Realm Senate. The Security Forces' style themselves as a paramilitary force meant to operate as a partisan movement should Scitaria ever ben threatened, and emphasis this role above all others. Their other duties include disaster response and relief, and assisting local law enforcement.

The Security Forces is a distinct legal entity from the Syaran Commonality Armed Forces, and its reserve components, the Syaran National Forces and the Syaran Strategic Forces. Security Forces members are not exempt from conscription into the SCAF, however their serivce in the national armed forces can be substituted for servce in the Security Forces, though introductory training is the same for both services.

Organization

The Scitarian Security Forces are organized into regional Corps of a few thousand personnel each. These Corps are designated to specific regional area of Scitaria. Each Corps answers to Security Forces Command, which is led by the Security Forces Commanding General, the senior operational commander of the Security Forces.
