Thomas Xavier Whitfield (27 October 2002 – 30 April 2046) is a Concordian hacker who commands Virtual Shields Unit Gamma as a part of the Resurrected Seleucid Empire's effort to dominate cyberspace. A highly intelligent programmer, Whitfield is one of the most dangerous hackers in Eordis.
Whitfield was a former employee to the Royal Concordian Central Intelligence Agency where he worked in its Directorate of Digital Innovation. During the Chalcedonic War, Whitfield helped to disable the Guadosalam Federation's network and telecom infrastructures in order to place a pro-neocon leader, and then assisted Group 7B2 in conducting cyberoffensive operations against the Autocratic East Europan Imperial Alliance. During the Neocon War, he conducted cyberattacks against Rubrum, Erebonia, and the United Kingdom, although he became disillusioned with the motives of the neocon governments and the Heimdallr Council, and ultimately the state of the world. After the declaration of the Resurrected Seleucid Empire, Whitfield escaped to Seleucid Militesi to offer his services to the Empire. He was subsequently employed in the Virtual Shields where he would commit cyberattacks against the Allied Security Council, nicknaming himself Auletes (Koinē Greek: Αὐλητής, "the Flautist"). From his abilities, Whitfield made his unit, Unit Gamma, a force to be reckoned with.
