Txir is a major city in the Trellinese Empire. It is the most populous city in the Isles of Velar and the nineteenth most populous city in the empire with an urban population of 1,420,342 and a metropolitan population of two and a half million.
Txir was the capital of a powerful and independent kingdom until 850 AD, when it was annexed by the rising Kingdom of the Isles of Velar which had its capital at Parthenope. Its princes remained influential within the new kingdom, and Txir prospered as effectively the kingdom's second city. In the later medieval period its growth was only outpaced by Parthenope, which ensured the influence of its leaders in the royal administration. In the late 1700s Prince Miró led a challenge to Elcmar IV of Trellin's claim to the Velaran throne, provoking the War of the Velaran Succession. The city was besieged and captured in the 1770 Siege of Txir by Trellinese royalist forces.
