The State of Varille (Hestaican: Estado Varilla), known more commonly as Varille, is a sovereign state in southwest Cybelleum in the world of Verthandi, bordered by the League of Jaconia to the South, the Kingdom of Luistia to the West, the Kingdom of Baranda, the Auvernian Federation to the Northeast, and the Free Confederation of Ostiar to the East. Originally a small Duchy in the Imperial Kingdom of Hestaica, the Duke of Varille supported Pierre Clement during the Auvernian invasion of Hestaica during the Clementine Wars. This proved extremely profitable for the Duke, as Pierre Clement raised his title up to King of Varille and gave him the land of Imperial nobles surrounding his Duchy. The Kings of Varille were the primary supporters of Clement in Hestaica, and after his defeat they were still left in a strategic position. They began to conquer and incorporate the surrounding lands. They use the anarchy and chaos after the wars to solidify their position in Hestaica as a regional power. The Kingdom of Varille fell into a long twenty year Civil War in 1910. Eventually, the military backed faction of National Syndicalists won and took control of Varille, establishing the State of Varille.
