Early Life
Kaenan Lamar Bullock was born into a working-class casteless family in the inner city of Harlem, Mwindo on November 20th, 1959. His mother and father held steady jobs, however the pay was meagar and Kaenan often found himself assisting with the financials in the household through contributions from money he earned by working after school. When speaking about his life, he has stated that he "begun working at 13 and never stopped since then." By the age of 14, Kaenan was working a part time position at a local grocery store while also attending school and participating in debate and chess clubs. Whenever possible, Kaenan's parents would send him to the local arcade where he reportedly fell in love with billiards.
For the most part, much of his early life was dominated between responsibilities to his family, siblings, and school. His parents - although appreciative of his help - Bullock's parents stressed the importance of schooling and passing The Crucible Exam so that he would be afforded the chance to rise above the station he was born into. To this end, his parents began to work double and triple shifts to allow their son the opportunity to focus primarily on school.
When he began high school in 1974, Kaenan faced fierce discrimination and bullying from his teachers and classmates when it was revealed that his parents were casteless. He was routinely mocked and targeted by teachers who thought less of him due to his parents' social status and was passed up by his classmates when unique opportunities would arise. Bullock however, found friends and associates from individuals who came from a similar background. He quickly became popular among his friend group and people with similar backgrounds, and galvanized by statements from the newly crowned King Sefu Tu'Aruc and his tough stance against discrimination of any kind, in 1976 Bullock organized the casteless people in his student body to form the organization Building Relationships, Inclusion, and Diversity for Greater Equality (BRIDGE). This would be the first time Bullock would enter the realm of politics as BRIDGE rallied, hosted sit-ins, and protested against the treatment of casteless individuals and families in Unified Sera. His activism eventually led to the organization Advancing Casteless Civil Equality and Social Support (ACCESS) reaching out to him about the possibility of bringing BRIDGE under the larger organization. After consideration between himself and others in BRIDGE, BRIDGE agreed and placed itself under the umbrella of ACCESS which afforded it financial and social support in its fight against civil abuses.
In May of 1977 during his senior year of high school, Bullock took and passed the Crucible Exam, becoming the first member of his family to do so, and graduated from High School in the top 10% of his class. He then selected the U.S. Royal Navy to serve his term of conscription.
After graduating from high school with top marks, Bullock was accepted into the prestigious University of Sankore, where he studied political science and economics. It was there that his thirst for justice exploded. He quickly became involved in student activism at the university, and brough BRIDGE to the collegiate level. There, he began organizing protests and rallies to advocate for social justice. Bullock's passion and dedication to his causes earned him a reputation as a leader among his peers, and he was soon elected president of the student government despite his lowborn status. He used his position to advocate for change, and he became known as a fierce and effective campaigner for progressive causes.
After graduating from Univeristy with a PhD in Juridical Science (the first person in his family to graduate college), Bullock entered the world of politics, determined to make a difference and bring about positive change in his country. He began his political career as an intern in the office of a local politician, and he quickly worked his way up through the ranks, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues. Bullock became known for his intelligence, integrity, and unwavering commitment to justice and fairness despite the rigid unwillingness by establishment politicians to keep the status quo. He marked himself as a tireless campaigner, traveling the country to advocate for his causes and listen to the concerns of the people.
His campaign stalled as he was deployed into the Armanza Sea in 1981 with the USRN Victory, however his drive for equality never faded.
As his military career progressed, Bullock became more and more involved in the national political scene. He worked on a number of high-profile campaigns, and he gained a reputation as a skilled strategist and effective communicator. Moreover, he distinguished himself as an effective and empathetic naval officer while serving in the Victory Carrier Strike Group. His intellect, drive, and commitment were leading factors that eventually earned him the commission to an admiralty position.
After retirement, he was selected to be the one of the five Federal Judges of District One by the governor. Eventually, Bullock decided to run for office himself. He campaigned tirelessly, crisscrossing the state of Mwindo to meet with voters and listen to their concerns. In a stunning upset, he was elected Mayor at the age of 53. From there he served for a single term before becoming the Governor of the entire state.
Kaenan Bullock's rise to power is seen as a testament to hard work, determination, and commitment to justice and fairness. For casteless Serans, Kaenan Bullock became a beacon for what is possible.
