Forna, officially the Democratic Republic of Forna, is a nation in northwestern America. It is bordered by Laka to the northwest, Meco to the west, Free Republic to the south, Gatula to the east, Kota to the northeast, and Kon to the north.

Forna has perhaps the most abysmal ratings of civil liberties, HRC-FS human rights, and political freedom in the Solar System. Laws concerning so-called “hate speech” are incredibly restrictive to speech that over the years the Glish language has been altered to form the language of Fornan. Hate speech can include a variety of things including negative remarks made about appearance, personal property, personal choices, the government, or any government-run institution, and any positive remarks about countries deemed oppressive by the government, and any conservative ideology. Beyond speech laws, the treatment of children and mentally ill individuals could be construed as negligent and harmful to the mind and body. Before the introduction of the Forever Body, people were often surgically altered in a variety of ways, including gender change, species change, and addition of mechanical parts. These alterations were often forced upon the individual via Neuromagnetic Transformative Therapy which alters the mind into believing whatever the controller wants. Political freedom does not exist in Forna which is ruled by one political party, the Fornan Democratic Party of Freedom and Human Rights (FDPFH) or as is referred to simply by the Fornan population, the Democratic Party. All criticism of the government is strictly prohibited and free elections do not exist. However, the citizens of Forna partake in staged “democratic” elections performed by the FDPFH. All political parties are banned other than the FDPFH, and no person is allowed to run for any office unless they are part of the FDPFH.

The Fornan economy is fairly unstable and is based in manufacturing and consumerism. Fornan government involvement in the economy has strangely caused the economy to become unstable with large fluctuations in GDP, inflation, and employment rates. Forna is a founding member of the American Union (AU) which provides enough stability to prevent large-scale recessions. Forna is the only country in the world to have a universal salary implemented.

Etymology

The name Forna is derived from territories by the same name to the south, now in the American Nomadic Region. It is unknown where the name originated from, however it is likely from Rabanan origin.
