Gatula, officially the People’s Democratic Republic of Gatula, is a nation in northern America. It is bordered by Torio to the northeast, Kota to the northwest, Forna to the west, Free Republic to the southwest, and Tas to the southeast. It has a coast with the Hud Sea to the east.

Gatula ranks low in civil liberties and very low in political freedom. Most civil liberties are either not permitted or not respected, however most of the population does not seem to feel these effects as there is little internal unrest or protest. People in Gatula approve of the government, except for a small number of fringe groups that have been deemed terrorist organisations by the government. Political freedom in Gatula is nonexistent with all criticism of the government and opposing political parties declared illegal.

Gatula produces the most amount of Uranium in the world. Despite this, most countries do not trade with Gatula due to major ideological differences. Gatula also has extensive manufacturing plants which surprisingly are more financially rewarding to the government via taxes and the overall economy.

Etymology

Gatula is related to the name given by natives to a southern area of the American Nomadic Region in the second millenia. The original word is not known, however etymologists are certain this is where Gatula is derived.
