Biography
Akteenalak was born on 19 April 1982 in Atlalilco the daughter of a Mavean mother and Atitlanese father. Her father, Guillem Cuéllar was a police officer whilst her mother, Akteenalak Taatunuk, worked as a secretary. Aged 10, her family moved to Mava, where she was educated in Paas. She returned to Atitlan aged 13, on the death of her father, but once again moved to Mava permanently at 16.
She has three brothers, one of whom is Aamailet Guillem, who is a captain in the Mines and Properties Police.
She serves as a volunteer at the Mava People Project, which provides assistance to immobile and elderly people. In 2023, she received Mava Council's Service to the Community Award for her work.
She was elected a member of Mava Council in 2012, becoming the youngest member ever elected to the council (she was 30 at the time). She was also the first openly LGBT+ person elected to the council.
Her appointment to the Communities portfolio drew criticism from conservative elements in Mavean society, with her sexuality the main target for complaint. As a Executive Board member, Akteenalak is considered to be a progressive voice; she has promoted policies to improve legal and social standing for unmarried cohabiting couples, long considered taboo in Mavean society.
Private life
Akteenalak is openly gay and lives with her partner, Kuunakik Alumak. She speaks three languages: Mavean, Almagrian (both the Atitlanese and Gavirian dialects), and Anglish. She also has very basic knowledge of Musashi.
