Beroea was the youngest child and only son of Michael Anicius, 2nd Duke of Beroea and Lady Constania Voconia. He was the grandson of [[Thomas Anicius, 1st Duke of Beroea]], the first modern [[Consul of the Latin Empire|Consul]] following the reforms of [[Theophylactus I Augustus|Emperor Theophylactus I Augustus]] in the mid-1860s. Beroea took up a military career after turning 16, primarily serving in the [[Legio V Audonia|5th Legion]]. In 1898, he married his third cousin [[Princess Iohanna, Duchess of Beroea|Princess Iohanna of Latium]]; they had 5 children, of which 4 survived to adulthood, including [[Constantine XIX of Latium|Latin Emperor Constantine XIX]]. Beroea had a storied military, political and court career, serving as Lord Palatine of Belfras on two occasions for a total of 9 years.
