The AG-91M (Automatisches Gewehr 91 Modern) is a Calvardian assault rifle based on the Imperial Stg-74 under license from Krimm Werke. It was designed to address the problems and flaws that were found in the latter. It is chambered in 5.45x39mm BG cartridge, which is Calvard's first indigenous modern cartridge.
Arguably considered to be one of the most reliable assault rifles made in Scandinavia, the AG-91M saw potential buyers, including Alteria and the Erebonian Empire. The AG-91M was made to suit all types of environments. It was also found to be more reliable than the Stg-74 in cold or freezing conditions. In 1998, the Alterian Government expressed interest in the rifle, hence obtaining a license to produce the AG-91M locally. Alterian versions were made and these were chambered in 5.47x39mm AT, Alteria's indigenous cartridge.
The AG-91M is the standard issue of the Calvardian Armed Forces and in the Remiferian Armed Forces. Although it also sees service as an alternative or special operations choice in the Erebonian Empire, Alteria, Crossbell State, and the Great Lucis by the SAS.
