Radio Courant is a Gylian radio station. Established in 1986 by Marie-Agnès Delaunay, it is Gylias' largest solely French-language radio station.
History
Marie-Agnès Delaunay founded Radio Courant in 1986. It was her first venture for the newly-established Magdel Group, which already included the newspapers L'Actualité and L'Commerçant.
Due to GNBS' existing monopoly on federal broadcasting, it was initially a regional station, serving Ḑarna, Tomes, Aðuna, and Herlan. It gained popularity for its sophisticated station identification jingles, eclectic programming, and Francophone focus. By 1989, it was a significant station in southern Gylias.
After the GNBS' monopoly on federal broadcasting ended in 1991, Radio Courant became a national radio network.
Radio Courant took advantage of the growth of the internet in Gylias in the 1990s to greatly expand its webcasting and internet radio capabilities, and thus growing its audience abroad.
Organisation
L'Actualité is legally constituted as an SA, and part of the Magdel Group. Its headquarters are in Riáona, Ḑarna. It has a 10-member Management Board and a 20-member Supervisory Board, elected yearly.
The station accepts advertising, but only of the tradio variety, from individuals.
Identity
Radio Courant is a full-service radio station, famed for its sophisticated station identification and eclectic programming. It is broadcast entirely in French and the French languages.
Marie-Agnès hosted Conversations avec Marie-Agnès for both television and radio. The program ended when she entered politics.
