Erjarvia (Erjarvian: Erkylänjäri), officially the Republic of Erjarvia (Erjarvian: Erkylänjäri Vabariik), is a sovereign state in Berea. It is bordered to the north by the Telmerian Sea, to the west and south by the Karsk Sea across from Sarrac and the Okhotsk archipelago of Dulebia, and to the east by X. Erjarvia is one of the three Lesinian states alongside X and X, the westernmost and the smallest of the states both in terms of population with 1,837,549 (2019) inhabitants and land area of 36,804.1 km2 (14,210.1 sq mi). Harkulinn is the capital and single largest city of the country, with other notable cities including Säkla, Laurju, Töstamaa and Nohusuu-Kunda. The state is organized as an unitary parliamentary republic and functioning democracy under a ceremonial President and Prime Minister as head of government.
The region of modern-day Erjarvia has been inhabited since at least the 8th century BC by various Lenisian tribes, and was first united by Harangvar who proclaimed the Duchy of Erjarvia in 1095. The Middle Ages saw the rise of the Duchy of Erjarvia as a regional power in the Karsk Sea region and the elevation of its rulers as Grand Dukes in 1214. The 1246 Concordat of Phasia paved the way for the formation of the Aldeno-Erjarvian Commonwealth as a personal union between Erjarvia and the powerful Kingdom of Aldena to the south which expanded rapidly in the 13th century and became one of Berea's most influential states as the Loxstedt-Hoeveden Monarchy. The personal union ultimately broke apart in 1440 due to Erjarvia's Salic law, but continued to remain a vassal of Aldena; eventually, in 1799 the Dulebian Empire invaded Aldena and occupied Erjarvia during the Cuthish Revolution, before incorporating both with the 1807 Treaty of Ulich. While Dulebia lost the Cutho-Dulebian War of 1834 as part of the Alhstead Wars against the Cuthish Empire, it was able to retain Erjarvia as an incorporated kingdom. During the Dulebian Civil War (1914-1918) and as the Great War (1910-1916) ended, a Republic of Erjarvia declared independence on 24 August 1916 with the aid of Sarrac and Falland, and was formally recognized with the Treaty of Lehpold on 1 December 1917.
Erjarvia is considered to be a developed country and equipped with a high-income productive economy; it has consistently ranked very high in various metrics of national performance, such as the Human Development Index, quality of life, public health and access to education. Furthermore, the country is the least populous members of the Berean Economic Community (BEC), and a member state of the Common Berean Economic Space (CBES), Assembly of Nations (AN), X.
