Foreign relations of Volta
The foreign relations of Volta are controlled by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Volta. Since independence, the foreign relations of Volta has varied depending on the government in power.
Foreign policy
The foreign policy of Volta has varied depending upon the government in power at the time. While Hans Krenz and Willi Ebert were in power, the country took the stance of aggressively supporting and promoting communist rebellion abroad, to the point of regularly supplying arms to foreign communist insurgents. Hans himself was a firm believer in the idea of world revolution, though Willi took a more measured approch to the idea and only offered as much support as he could without dragging Volta into a foreign war. While Willi was in power the country also sought closer economic ties with other regimes of similar ideology, even becoming a founding member of the International Communist Economic Bloc. The country moved away from an ideologically driven foreign policy under Franz Ulbricht, and while it maintained close relations with its previous allies Franz also took a more isolationist approach than his predecessors.
Ernst Krenz has taken a very different approach than is predecessors, actively encouraging closer ties with foreign countries provided that said country provide diplomatic recognition to the current Voltan government, and not the Voltan government-in-exile.
