History

Pre-history

There is evidence of an ancient human civilizations existing in Kryvia as far as 5000 BC. The first known civilizations sprung to existance in the Rzhuchana valley. Oldest bronze tools found in this region can be dated to 3000 BC. It is around this time when the so-called Yesretani civilization is founded. This term refers to a collective of city-states located on the Yesretani peninsula near the Damalis strait. It was a civilization of merchants and seafarers and were responsible for the formation of multiple colonies on the southern and eastern shores of the subcontinent. It is theorized that the ancient Yesretanis themselves were not native to Kryvia, but that they come from the east.

Iron Age

The Kryvian iron age began around 1000 BC and is known as the period of Great Realms. This name refers to the various states and polities which existed from 1000 to 200 BC. One of the most dominant of those was the Kingdom of Lendua which existed from 800 BC to 103 AD. Though its greatest extent was between 300 to 100 BC, when it controlled much of the northeastern Kryvia and even had colonies in western Lakrosia.

In the 5th century BC, a revolt in of the Great Realms, Kingdom of Acruia, lead to the abolition of the monarchy and establishment of a military oligarchy. The leading organization of this new polity became the Senate, composed of the most senior military leaders. In charge of this Senate stood the so-called Prince. Throughout the early period of the Acruian republic the Princes were mostly powerless and were tasked only with chairing the Senate.

The new government emphasized martial prowess and clamped on "decadency." By the 1st Century AD, the Acruian Empire conquered much of the eastern Kryvia and established multiple colonies in Lakrosia. It entered into multiple major conflicts with the Kingdom of Lenua conquering most of today's Stojam. Acruia expanded to the western parts of the Kryvia as well, with evidence of its presence as far as southern Raditia.
