Port Hope is the capital city of Satavia and the Hope Province. It is located on the South-Eastern tip of Satavia, and overlooks Breybach Bay, and is also situated at the mouth of the River Hope. Port Hope is Satavia's most populous city, with a total population of just over 4 million residents. Port Hope is the main financial and national administrative centre of Satavia, and is also home to Port Hope's dockyards, which, during the 20th Century, was one of the largest in the Asterias, following the Satavian Crisis and subsequent recession it was surpassed by the more convenient Pietersburg. The docks were also then surpassed by the docks at TBD, until 2004 when the docks once again became the most used dock in Satavia.

Port Hope was first established as Hoopstad (or, in Estmerish, "Hope Town) by Hennish explorer Jan van Breybach in 1549, but was abandoned two years later in 1551. The settlement was re-started multiple times, most notably in 1637-1641 before it was destroyed by "unknown causes", most likely famine. In 1729 it was once again re-started, and soon grew to become the biggest settlement in Satavia. In 1742, it was granted a charter, thereby becoming a Town.

Port Hope grew rapidly, soon reaching a population of an estimated 25,000 in 1747. In 1760, a baby boom lead to the population growing to nearly 100,000, becoming the largest city in Satavia and surpassing Port Arthur. In 1778, following the dissolution of Estmerish Asteria, a political union between Satavia and Nuvania, the city became the capital of the new Hope Territory. Since then, Port Hope has always remained the capital of Satavia.

Much of Port Hope was built by Estmere, and as such much of the architectual style is similar to Estmerish cities. A large portion of the city center has been torn down and replaced with new Skyscrapers being put in their place. The city has excellent public transport service, with the Port Hope Underground being capable of carrying up to 200 million people every year.

Port Hope is both the capital and largest city of the Hope Province, and serves as the administrative center for the Province as well. Despite provinces existing on a merely symbolic level, there is still a Governor of the Hope Province, currently Johan de Vilock, who resides in Government House.
