The Governor of Mava (Almagrian: Gobernador(a) de mava; Mavean: Maava Kuukaqakak) is the representative of the President and federal government of Atitlan in Mava, an unincorporated territorial area of Atitlan located in the Sarosan Ocean. The Governor is appointed by the president to represent the interests of the Atitlanese federal government and to undertake the duties assigned to the head of state. Although the governor technically weilds significant constitutional power, including assenting to bills and appointing the Leader of the Council, most of these powers are executed on the advice of the local government.
Because of Mava's small size and autonomy, Atitlan has not stationed a resident governor on the islands since 1981. Instead, whilst there is an appointed governor, their duties are undertaken by a resident Administrator. Invariably, the Administrator is a Mavean-born civil servant appointed on the advice of the local government.
