The media of Caldia has a long tradition, which can be dated back to the 1812 decree which enacted freedom of the press.
The press is a mix of public and private ownership. Teilifís Raidió Náisiúnta is Caldia's public service broadcaster and was first sanctioned in 1921 by the National Public Broadcasting Act. It is funded through a variety of sources, but is principally funded through a television licence fee. Until the late 1930s, broadcast media was a government monopoly. The government of Taoiseach Eleanore Rosaiteir passed legislation that allowed the creation of private media. The state monopoly has since been eroded, but TRN remains dominate. Currently, the largest private media company is Copper-Ferguson Broadcasting, which is the parent company of GBF and Gael TV.
Caldish media has government sanctioned measures for regulation, which is done through the National Broadcasting Commission and the Royal Publishers Association.
