The Royal Princess of Ruvelka is the constitutional monarch of the Grand Principality of Ruvelka; it is unique among other monarchies in Tyran in that the position is elected by the Ruvelkan Federal Assembly and is not hereditary. As a result, there is no heir apparent and all women of the Prohászka Dynasty are eligible. The current monarch and head of state is Royal Princess Monika, who was elected to the position in September 2014 after her grandmother abdicated as a result of her advanced age.

The royal princess undertakes various official, ceremonial, diplomatic, and representational duties. They also serve as the head of the Imperial Armed Forces of Ruvelka, bestow honors, and appoint the Chancellor in a non-partisan manner. By convention, the Royal Princesses since Rózsá have not directly participated in the government and mostly serve the role of receiving envoys from foreign countries and host state visits. The events of the Siduri War saw the Princess become a tangible influence as a symbol of national unity.

The Ruvelkan monarchy traces its origins to the Principality of Debrecen and the first historical holder of the title Princess Royal, Tímea Prohászka. The Prohászka family remained a powerful political family between the 1320s, through the time period of the Confederation and the Ruvelkan Imperium. Following the Red War, the majority of the Prohászkas fled to the nearby Cacertian Empire where they lived in exile during the time of the Ruvelkan Socialist Republic.

In 1909, Rózsá Prohászka returned to Ruvelka under an assumed identity and helped to organize the events that led to the 1914 December Uprising and the outbreak of the Ruvelkan Civil War. She served as the effective leader of the Imperial Separatist Movement and the Imperial victory in 1918 led to the creation of the modern elective monarchy.
