The Alexandria-Prussia Department of Forests, Parks and Wildlife (FPW) is an agency in the Alexandrian-Prussian Central Government that is responsible for maintaining and preserving the country's national forests and parks. The department is also additional tasked with developing and implementing national policy, programs and legislation to protect and conserve Alexandria-Prussia environmental heritage, and protect wildlife and their habitats. The department also provides information on the country’s natural resources; and working with communities to benefit local recreation and natural areas.
The agency was established as a result of Department of Environmental Resources being split into 2 agencies other being the Department of Environmental Protection.
History
In 2019, the Parliament passed the Environmental Reorganization Act of 2019 which split Department of Environmental Resources into Department of Environmental Protection and FPW. Minister-President Elizabeth McCord nominated Nathan A. Evans, DVM a veterinarian and animal activist to head the newly created department. The Minister-President was again criticized by certain conservative lawmakers for picking a candidates who is activists in the respected fields.
At Evans confirmation hearing he was grilled by conservative members of the Environment, Energy and Agriculture Committee in the House of Lords. They specifically took issue with his past animal-rights activities. Evans defended those activities and "stated that animals have no voice in government and I want to me that voice not just for wildlife but also for the forests and parks they call home".
Evans nomination was reported out of the committee on July 10, 2019. On July 16, 2019, Evans was confirmed as the first Secretary of Forests, Parks and Wildlife by the House of Lords in a 58–22 vote. All twenty-two conservative members of the House of Lords voted against Evans.
